Getting ready for colour-in time

Choose suitable fabric pens separately, protect a creative space and follow the exact garment and colouring-material care instructions.

Start with a Colour-In design

A personalised outline is the starting point; their imagination supplies the colours. Choose a T-shirt from our Colour-In range. You can view the separate Full Colour design preview. Ordering is coming soon; those finished-colour designs are not a colouring activity or available to order yet.

Set up a little creative space

Choose a flat surface with good light and protect it before you begin. Lay the T-shirt flat and place a suitable protective layer inside so colour does not transfer to the back.

Choose an activity space and colouring materials appropriate for the child. Follow any age guidance and supervision instructions supplied with the materials.

Pick the right colours for fabric

Use pens or colours specifically labelled for fabric. Ordinary drawing pens are not a substitute. Read the packaging to understand whether the colour is permanent or washable and whether fixing is required.

What comes with the gift? Our current Colour-In T-shirts include the personalised outline design; fabric pens are not included. Choose suitable fabric colouring materials separately.

Let them make it their own

  1. Choose a palette. Pick a few favourite colours, or give every little detail its own shade.
  2. Take it one area at a time. Work carefully around the printed outlines and follow the colouring material's drying instructions.
  3. Check before wearing. Follow all drying and fixing instructions. Any heat-setting step should be handled by an adult, exactly as the manufacturer directs.

Keep the instructions for later

Washing can affect different colouring materials in different ways. Keep the pen packaging, garment label and any decoration care instructions. Use the instructions for that exact product, whether a child's or an adult's garment; do not transfer care settings from another style.

Do not assume the design can be washed out and recoloured unless the materials explicitly say so. Our care and colouring guide is a useful companion.
